Historical Events
- The United Federation of Planets rejects the membership bid by Boliax, claiming the Bolians remain unstable. The new planetary government, the World Council, will have to survive the coming of a new generation for the Bolians to prove their commitment to world peace.[2]
- The year is SFC-canon, presumed to occur in a short time after first contact, but enough time to allow the planet to meet minimal membership requirements.
- The 2260 date is a best guess. The source indicates they were the first of three systems to rejoin the Federation in the 2260s.
- The Proxima class battle cruisers start decommissioning and are mothballed in surplus depots.[4]
- The Mojave sub-class light cruisers finish receiving weapons upgrades.[5]
- The last of the final 26 remaining Texas class light cruisers to receive overhauls, is completed, as a Texas (II) class light cruiser.[5]
- USS Smith (Byrd class galactic survey cruiser) returns early from her 25-year voyage.[6]
- The early return is surmised, as the ship undergoes experimental modifications in the following year.
- Article 96 is amended to indicate the President of the United Federation of Planets is to be selected—for the first time—by general election. Additionally, the term is established from January 1st of the year following the general election for a length of four years, to be completed by selected Presidents Pro Tempore if the elected official is unable to fill the role of office. The next general election is set for November 2262.[7]
- The first of the remaining Larson destroyers are brought to full phaser VII standard, equipped with duotronic systems, and upgraded with other technologies.[1]
- To be clear, this refers to refits of existing Larsons and not the new (i.e. 2261) Mk VI.
- The heyday of the Larson class destroyer begins.[1]
- The PB-32 deep space engine becomes available and immediately provided to the Nelson class scouts/destroyers.[8]
- Two Nelson class scouts are converted to the Moisanen subclass.[8]
- Two Nelson class scouts are converted to the Sager subclass.[8]

- The final Keith class surveyor is completed.[11]
- The final Constitution Flight II is upgraded to Bonhomme Richard configuration.[12]
- The ships having served longest in the Bonhomme Richard configurations are the first to be upgraded to the Constitution Flight III.[12]
- The Mo'Kal class light fleet tug enters service with Star Fleet and hundreds more are produced for the commercial market, reducing the costs to Star Fleet as a benefit of mass production.[13]
- Izar rejoins the Federation.[3][2]
- The Class F3 light shuttle enters service with Star Fleet, starting with starbases & ground installations.[14]
- The initial assignment is presumed, as it was 2 years later that starship deployments began.
- The Hellespont class escort enters service with Star Fleet.[15]
- Star Fleet decides to split the Prospecting And Reconnaissance Integrated Scoutship (PARIS) project into two different vessel types with divergent foci.[16][17]

- Early: Miranda class heavy frigates Aloia (NCC-1841) and Polaris (NCC-1939) are stricken from the active Starship Register due to faults discovered in their spaceframes.[20][21]
- In reality, they were converted to the Soyuz configuration, to engage in anti-cloak operations for Star Fleet Intelligence against the Klingons.
- Early: Production of the first series of the Derf buoy tender/mine warfare ship class begins at Merak II.[22]
- February: A Star Fleet command conference is held at Starbase 19, at which the planning (and approval) for a sector-based assignment of starships along borders is conducted. Vessels will have defined command and support structures based around important systems and stations, reducing overlap of areas of responsibilities.[23][2][24]
- February 16th: The Raktajino Revolution begins on the Klingon world Mastocal, as savan (indentured workers) rioted in protest of falling wages among a period of economic stagnation.[25]
- The movement is essentially over in March 2261.
- June: The apex of the Raktajino Revolution is marked by rebel forces establishing a front within 5 days travel of Qo’noS.[25]
- Mid: The first Achernar export heavy cruiser is completed and delivered to the client-state.[26]
- September 2260: Vota II is the site of significant public protests against General Dak'Rah (the "Butcher of J'Gal").[27]
- This contributes to a major diplomatic crisis following his assassination.
- October: The Okinawa class light frigate enters service with Star Fleet.[28]
- October 11th: The Ardana Crisis erupts, as the Klingon rebel faction Korvat makes a push for Ardana's wealth of zenite. Star Fleet deploys to protect the independent world.[29]
- The crisis is averted as of November 24th.
- Late: The Tre-Usla clan wins a major victory in the city of Xupa (Acamar), leading to the formation of the Banner of Gathering Unity (BGU) revolutionary movement.[30]
