Dak'Rah, son of Ra'ul (2188–2260), was a high-ranking Klingon Banner General and subsequently a Federation ambassador-at-large who served as a controversial intermediary during the early stages of the Klingon cold war. A scion of the prestigious warrior House of Ra'ul, he commanded major offensives during the first Federation-Klingon War, but he became infamously known as the "Butcher of J'Gal" for overseeing a campaign that resulted in 450,000 deaths, including the massacre of nearly 200,000 civilians on the planet J'Gal. Following the war, General Dak'Rah murdered his own subordinate warlords to facilitate his escape from the Empire and defected to the Federation in 2258 to evade a Klingon arrest warrant, reinventing himself as a contrition-seeking diplomat. While he successfully negotiated the Perez Accords and the Korvat-D'Rakar open port treaty, his efforts to mediate with Klingon revolutionaries during the Prospero Summit in 2260 ultimately failed. Dak'Rah’s career ended in September 2260 when he was killed aboard the USS Enterprise during a confrontation with Dr. Joseph M'Benga, a veteran of J'Gal who exposed that the general had personally committed the atrocities he publicly claimed to have sought to prevent.[1]
