This presumably occurred largely with the help of the Humans that arrived around 2205.
Occurred the same year they achieved warp capability, per Memory Alpha.
  • The second series of each of the three subclasses of the Mission class enters production.[27]
  • Vulcan duonetics specialists complete calculations for a customized field configuration of three nacelles on an escort-sized hull.[28]
Prior to production of the Hellespont class.
  • Star Fleet launches the Prospecting And Reconnaissance Integrated Scoutcraft (PARIS) program.[29][30]
  • Early: Two secondary mission roles for a new (support) destroyer design are identified: rapid reaction signals intelligence and buoy tending. The former will be discarded, in favor of this need being met by existing designs; the latter forms the basis for the Derf class.[31]
  • Persistent monetary-based cross-border commerce conducted between Federation frontier colonies and the Klingon Empire now accounts for 40% of export revenue for mining colonies.[32]
This continues until 2261.
  • Early: Modifications are performed on a surplus Larson spaceframe, for the purpose of developing a destroyer/buoy tender design.[31]
  • Early: Construction begins on the first Achernar export heavy cruiser.[33]

  • March–July: The Imperial Navy and Marines begin a systematic campaign of annexation and deportation, rounding up Suliban for use as industrial chattel slavery to fuel the Klingon "productivity turn".[37]
This policy continues in 2262.
It will continue through mid-2261.
  • May: The UFP offers associate citizenship to all Suliban refugees.[34]
This is in recognition of the eradication campaign being waged by the Klingon Empire.
  • Late: The USS Sverdlov (NCC-1238, formerly Coventry strike frigate) re-sails as USS Soyuz (survey frigate).[39]
