Summary
- The public expresses approval of the numerous survey missions that are securing new resources for the Federation.[2]
- Medium and light cruisers continue to dominate Star Fleet.[3]
- "Supercruising" (warp 4 or higher) is largely the province and privilege of large ships until this decade.[4]
- Computer models of warp dynamics are not up to the task of accurately predicting certain hull solutions.[5]
- The test class, Anton, is a point of ridicule, due to its perceived shape being the factor in its under-performance.[6]
- Advancing technology provides the means for further compacting of ion power drives and allows the production of boxy high volume craft, such as the ones adopted as Class F2 and G3 utility shuttles.[7]
- Star Fleet continues to attempt to field interstellar-capable utility craft.[8]
- A sharp contrast develops between Star Fleet's troop transport barges and agile warp auxiliaries.[9]
Years
Events
- Early decade: Additional properties of dilithium, discovered on Deneva, are reported, leading to research into dilithium-based power generation once again.[10]
- The discovery is placed early in the decade, to allow for various levels of scientific investigation, prior to engineering experiments starting.
- Early decade: The loss of a number of "keystone" predator species on R'Vel heralds the first clear signs of ecological collapse.[11]
- Star Fleet vectors some of its Proximas to general exploration duties.[1]
- Star Fleet decides to discontinue the service of the Lowell class scouts entirely, as the Flagstaff scout drones become available.[4]
- Following the rapid loss of Archanis, Cursa and Donatu to the Klingons in 2236, the planets of Altair, Izar and Melev discuss leaving the UFP.[14]
- Due to the rate at which the Federation is signing treaties and making friends, the UFP territory to be patrolled and the buffer space around it to be studied and secured are becoming too vast for Star Fleet to handle. Star Fleet decides it needs starships capable of greater speeds.[15]
- Late decade: Several Richter class cruisers are engaged in cutting edge exploration.[15]
