History

  • About 203,000 BCE: Orion astronauts reach Rigel XII and study the superstring located above the planet's south pole.[1]
  • About 202,000 BCE: The Orions develop warp drive.[1]
  • About 20,720 BCE: The Curved Rodinium Culture dominates the Orion region.[1]
  • About 8,000 BCE: The Twelfth Orion Empire expands into the Alpha quadrant.[1]
  • 5,200 BCE: The Twelfth Orion Empire falls.[1]
These Debrune will name themselves V'gelnians (after their name for Rigel V) and will eventually refer to themselves as Zami.
  • 553: The Zami and Kaylar settle into their preferred parts of Rigel V, ending the general conflict, with the Zami entering into trade deals with the neighboring Orions.[1]

Notes

  • Some planets within the Rigel systems are dated to be older than the stars themselves, suggesting they were moved to their current orbits from an unknown origin and by unknown forces.
  • Various sources differ in the number of stars in the Rigel systems. While the usual arbiter, Star Charts, has it as one Type A, SFC is settling on the trinary depicted above,
  • It is understood the numbering sequence should start from "I" for the planet systems around both Beta Rigel A and Beta Rigel BC. However, most common names for both systems has Beta Rigel BC's planets start at "XIII".
  • Per the various sources, SFC canon has that the Orions originated in the Pi-3 Orionis system, while some Orions were re-settled (around 220,000 BCE) on Rigel VII (in this system).
Additionally, the United Rigel Worlds and Colonies served as a forum (think United Nations) for the various states and colonies to maintain interplanetary peace and security, develop positive relations among the planets, and achieve cooperation regarding common challenges. While all Rigellian societies were represented in the United Rigel forum, only some became members of the Federation. Therefore, in SFC, the United Rigel Worlds and Colonies is not a subordinate form of state within the Federation, but a separate and inclusive organization parallel to it.
  • It would appear to be, at the time of this writing, that the center of Orion culture is here in the Beta Rigel system, rather than in the Pi-3 Orionis one, despite that as their (apparent) point of origin.
  • The Beta Rigel A system has an asteroid belt in orbit 2; however, the belt was never popularly named, so the planets are named as if the belt were absent.
