Banner of the Confederacy of Vulcan

The Confederacy of Vulcan was the Vulcan state and one of the five founding Federation member states. Prior to the Founding of the Federation, the Confederacy was a major interstellar power throughout what later became the core Federation worlds and participated in a long-standing rivalry with the Andorian Empire.[1]

History

  • By 3000 BCE: Vulcan has developed a polytheistic religion and the first of the "mental wars" take place, using psionic powers and various psi-weaponry.[2]
  • By 1400 BCE: Vulcan has begun its Middle Ages, also known as the "Time of the Beginning".[2]
It was almost 3,000 years old at the time of the episode.
  • By the 4th century: Vulcan is rife with violence and war, arising from the desire for conquest and need for water resources. Warfare is constant, including several attacks with atomic weapons. Industry is no longer capable of supporting warp flight.[5][2][4]
  • 312: On Vulcan, The Time of Awakening begins, as Surak begins to write of his theories on logic and emotionalism. He calls for an end to the constants wars through a new philosophy of total logic.[6][7][2]
SFC maintains that warp units had originally been clandestinely produced by scientists for the warlord Sudoc, purloined by Tellus for the 369 exodus' scout vessels.
  • 1270: An armada of invading spaceships pour forth from a new wormhole that has formed near Vulcan and opens intermittently.[5]
  • 1376: The intermittent wormhole closes for the final time; the invaders are hunted down and destroyed at their forward bases within the star system, but their identities are never discovered.[5]
The year is SFC-specific; derived from "after a century of constant warfare...".
  • April 5th 2063: Vulcans make (official) first contact with the Humans.
  • 2218: A Vulcan nationalist group, similar to Earth First, starts to gain support, due in part to increasing Klingon hostility.[11]
