Historical Events

The date of January 1 is completely symbolic, but the team did self-name prior to the base's destruction. This is also when it presumed construction began.
  • Early: Both Klingon and Tarn empires tacitly agree to an informal ceasefire.[4]
  • The period of clandestine-only attacks against non-Romulan shipping comes to an end and the great offensive towards the heartspace of Earth and its allies begins. The first punitive missions against the Romulans are mounted.[5][6]
  • Attacks against Earth colonies are generally seen as the beginning of the historic Romulan War.[5]
  • The third ship of the Enterprise class is launched.[7]
The assumption of the year is based on there being four in existence by the Romulan War.
  • The Hippolyta class corvette enters service with the UESF.[8]
  • A seventh ship of the Edison class is ordered.[9]
  • The UESS Goddard (Edison class) is lost.[9]
  • The Dagger class escort fightercraft enters service.[10]
Year is conjecture, but occurred by "the time the UESF knew it was facing the Romulan Star Empire".
  • The sixth ship of the Edison class enters service with the UESF.[9]
  • Design work begins on a new Earth-specific corvette.[11]
  • SP-36 shuttles embarked onboard Enterprise explorers are equipped with phase cannon armament and augmented combat aerodynamics.[12]
  • After almost 100 years in their initial location relatively near Earth (but without any contact with the planet), the spacebound Neyel colonists encounter a spatial interphase rift that deposits them a thousand times farther from home—in the Small Magellanic Cloud, 200,000 light years from the Milky Way Galaxy.[13]
  • Construction begins on the first of the Redstone subclass transports.[14]
  • The Siebel FC-100 strike transport subclass enters service with the UE Starfleet.[15]
  • The Phinda cruiser class enters operations with the Tellarite defense service.[16]
This is SFC-canon concession to the "Coalition of Planets".
  • Early: Romulans covertly hijack and capture a number of Vulcan High Command starships.[19][4]
This occurs after the drafting of the trade alliance. Details in SFC-canon do differ from the original source.
Dates regarding United Earth Starbase One occur one year earlier than in Federation: The First 150 Years, due to the other wartime actions that follow (as presented by Timo).
  • Early March: To intervene with the Coridanites' apparent intent to form closer ties with the Humans, Vulcans, and other species, and to prevent the development of non-Romulan Warp-7 technology, the Romulans devastate the planetary surface (and a great deal of natural resources) in a suicide attack by a starship at high warp speed.[21]
  • May 29: ECS Kobayashi Maru is lost to an apparent Klingon attack.[22][4]
In reality, the Klingon ships have been hijacked by Romulans in order to obfuscate the origin of the attack. The date is SFC-canon, but occurred between 22 May and 22 July.
  • July: Columbia (NX-02, Enterprise class cruiser) visits Porrima V in an effort to persuade planet's government to align with Earth. After extensive negotiations, the Porriman decide to remain uncommitted.[23][4]
This is SFC-canon concession to the "Coalition of Planets".
  • July 22: Vulcan High Command starships (crewed by unidentified Romulan hijackers) attack Alpha Centauri.[19][4]
This attack is part of a deception campaign to deter Vulcan/Centauri diplomacy. SFC-canon details differ from the original source.
  • July 25: Romulan forces bombard the Human colony on Tarod IX, leaving few survivors.[24][4]
The attackers are unknown to the survivors.
  • July 29: The Vulcans declare their unwillingness to fight in any conflict, but will supply warp detection sensors to the other trade alliance signatories.[25][4]
  • October 16: Romulan forces bypass the Vulcan early-warning system, destroy the patrolling ships (including UESS Yeager), and massacre all civilians on Deneva following an invasion.[26]
United Earth is unaware of the massacre at this time.
  • November 08: The newly-operational United Earth Starbase One and the Vulcan science outpost on Berengaria VII are obliterated by two squadrons of Romulan fighters that avoided notice by the system's Vulcan warp detection system.. UESS Discovery, responding to the outpost's automated distress signal, is lost when the Romulans blind her sensors with nuclear weapons. The crew is able to transmit the attackers' details as they abandoned ship.[27]
  • November 17: The Romulans attack the Andorian colonial system of Threllvia with 3 birds-of-prey, destroying the IGS Ka'Thelan Krotus. The ships are chased off by a Starfleet starship responding to the Andorian colony's distress signal.[28]
  • November 18: Another surprise Romulan attack on Threllvia IV overwhelms the defending Andorian forces, requiring a hasty evacuation of the small colony.[29]
