Historical Events
- The remaining Homa Bay vessels of the Roanoke class transports were updated with 1-layer conformal shields.[1]
- Date and updating from data section of source.
- The final Star Fleet Drexler class training frigates are retired from service. Both Star Fleet and the Federation Customs Service transfer them to the Federation Transit Authority.[2]
- The caption for the 3rd image suggests the FTA had close to 70 former Drexlers, indicating that both the FCS and Star Fleet had to have provided them, based on those numbers.
- The Sentinel class scout cruisers start to receive new transporter technology.[3]
- Star Fleet Intelligence issues a Fleet Yellow Alert regarding Klingon efforts to politically destabilize the UFP.[4]
- All Ranger sub-classes (Ranger, Jidai, Pytheas) start receiving an upgrade.[5]
- USS Triton (NCC-439, Syracuse destroyer) is destroyed by a Klingon privateer in a test of Star Fleet mettle.[6]
- Triton may be of the Siva sub-class by this time.
- ACB modulation in Mk II transporter systems is achieved.[7]
- Though very much new technology, it appears to be more of a tweak to existing transporter technology than a new type of transporter.
- A glitch in a Star Fleet logistics management program erased the registry letters for the Type VII containers from the self-organizing central registry records.[7]
- The Federation utilizes bioagents in attacks on the Klingon agricultural worlds.[8]
- The Apache class heavy destroyer enters service with Star Fleet.[9]
- Star Fleet announces its plans to convert 30 Texas light cruisers for dilithium power, announcing the Mojave sub-class.[10]
- Few of the Texas refit sub-classes see front line duties were assigned in the conflict.[10]
- The final Navigator sub-class light cruiser is completed.[10]
- The first of the Voyager sub-class light survey cruisers begins conversion.[10]
- March: USS Pyotr Velikiy (now NCC-1670) is officially handed over to Star Fleet above San Francisco.[13]
- The Pyotr Velikiy class heavy cruiser enters service with Star Fleet.[13]
- The Cochrane class colonizer enters service with Star Fleet.[14]
- Construction begins on the Canopus survey cruiser class.[15]
- May: Construction on heavy cruiser Constitution (NX-1700, Project Starship) is completed; class trials begin.[16]
- May: The future USS Miranda (NCC-1833) is completed and exits construction dock. She begins a series of test runs that extend into 2242.[17]
- Prior to June 5th: USS Gulliver (NCC-I824, Sawyer light scout), on assignment to assess the political situation in the Axanar system, becomes the first ship to succumb to the Klingon forces there.[18]
- The loss of the ship is unknown, until discovered by USS Bonhomme Richard.
- June: Historical start of the Four Years War.
- June 5th: USS Bonhomme Richard (NCC-476, Kovaris phase gun destroyer), returning from Babel escort assignment, recovers the recorder marker for USS Gulliver (NCC-I824, Sawyer class), evidently destroyed violently while on assignment to Axanar.[4]
- The half-completed USS Resolution (NCC-1011) begins a series of test runs that extend into 2242.[17]
- July 9th: Captain Kelvar Garth of Izar is ordered to assume command of USS Xenophon (NCC-558, Marklin light destroyer) at Starbase 12; around the time of the assumption, a dockside explosion tears a gaping hole in her engineering section and compromises the integrity of her entire spaceframe, an act of apparent Klingon sabotage.[4][19]
- July 12th: CAPT Garth, formerly commanding officer of USS Xenophon (NCC-558, Marklin light destroyer), is re-assigned to heavy cruiser Constitution (NX-1700), and ordered to Axanar to assess the situation, along with Baton Rouge class cruisers Connecticut and Saint Louis.[4]
- August: USS Bonhomme Richard (NCC-476, Kovaris phase gun destroyer) is decommissioned.[4]
- August 22nd: Heavy cruiser Constitution (NX-1700) approaches Axanar, when the planet declares independence from the UFP and three Klingon destroyers assume an intercept course; Constitution sends out a Code One call for help.[4]
- August 29th: In the First Battle of Axanar (or First Axanar), a Klingon task force engages Star Fleet at Axanar; two Baton Rouge cruisers and four Saladin destroyers from Starbase 12 arrive to ensure a Federation victory.[4]
- After August 29th: A Klingon ambush at Lea nearly results in the destruction of the Constitution, already on course to return to Earth for repairs.[20]
- September: The Second Battle of Axanar (or Second Axanar), takes place, with another Klingon defeat and the suicide of Admiral Kkorhetza, commander of the Klingon expedition.[4]
- Presumably, this victory (for the Federation) retook Axanar (or at least the system), since four Constitution class heavy cruisers would be "completed" at shipyards located there.
- The favorable results from the test runs conducted by the USS Resolution and the future USS Miranda leads Star Fleet to order the construction of as many as 72 heavy frigates, initially divided evenly between the Surya and Miranda configurations (and discrediting the economy of converting further Detroyats).[17]
- As a response to the Axanari defection, Star Fleet institutes planning to remove support services from planetary surfaces, preferring to rely solely upon Star Fleet facilities that do not have to be surrendered in the case of a planet's secession.[21]
- When this planning—and the resulting actions to remove Star Fleet presence—begins is flexible, but it should be noted that it couldn't happen until after August 22nd of this year.
- Carnegie is recognized for its worldwide industrial park and is considered to be financially successful.[22][23]
Notes
- Game canon: "Way of the Warrior" implicitly suggests that the ambush at Lea occurred at the beginning of the conflict; I've chosen to interpret that as occurring in 2241, the historically-determined first year of the Four Years War. This allows the Constitution to take damage at the decisive First Axanar battle, but then take significant damage near Lea, as the ship returns to Earth.
