Summary
- Falling the rapid loss of Archanis, Cursa and Donatu to the Klingons in 2236, the planets of Altair, Izar and Melev discuss leaving the UFP.[2]
- Due to the rate at which the Federation was signing treaties and making friends meant that both the UFP territory to be patrolled and the buffer space around it to be studied and secured were becoming too vast for Starfleet to handle. Starfleet decides it needs starships capable of greater speeds.[3]
- The public expresses approval of the numerous survey missions that are securing new resources for the Federation.[4]
- "Supercruising" (warp 4 or higher) is largely the province and privilege of large ships until this decade.[6]
- Computer models of warp dynamics are not up to the task of accurately predicting certain hull solutions.[7]
Years
Events
- Early decade: Additional properties of dilithium, discovered on Deneva, are reported, leading to research into dilithium-based power generation once again.[8]
- The discovery is placed early in the decade, to allow for various levels of scientific investigation, prior to engineering experiments starting.
- Starfleet decides to discontinue the service of the Lowell class scouts entirely, as the Flagstaff scout drones become available.[6]
- Advancing technology provides the means for further compacting of ion power drives and allows the production of boxy high volume craft, such as the ones adopted as Class F2 and G3 utility shuttles.[11]
- Late decade: Several Richter class cruisers are engaged in cutting edge exploration.[3]
