Historical Events

• DY-500 colonization transports (and derivatives) are no longer produced anywhere within the Federation.

• USS Lindbergh (NCC-177) succumbed to a Klingon raid in military picket duty, for which she was ill equipped.

• Due to the declaration of the unsafe nature of dilithium as a focus for matter/antimatter integrators, the Almeida class of multi-mission cruisers are transferred to the SMM, refitted with peristaltic feeds and downrated to warp 4.0.

It is presumed the combat and survey modules were sold off for scrap, as the SMM would only need cargo modules.

• The final Bryne class hospital ship, USS Phlox (NH-206), enters service.

• A round of budgetary evaluations allows Star Fleet to enhance some of the Caracal class further. Eight of the former light cruisers will now be designed and operated as command cruisers and five will be designated as attack cruisers, supporting assault missions, leaving just three to perform in the original role as light cruisers.

• The final two Alexandria class corvette tenders enter service.

• The Class A5 / LSA-27 light atmospheric shuttle enters service with Star Fleet.

• Star Fleet establishes the Star Fleet Medal of Commendation, a command-level award recognizing lieutenant commanders and junior for "[c]onspicuous acts of valor and heroism in combat".

• The United Federation of Planets makes first contact with Kobax; the Kobaxites initially decline formal association to maintain their vibrant, independent democracy.

• First half: Construction on the new Star Fleet Academy campuses on Binderia and Ithen are completed.

• August: The first classes of cadets at Star Fleet Academy Binderia and Ithen convene.
