Historical Events

• The final operational use of the Normandy and Port Stanley classes of escort fightercraft takes place, with decommissioning of all remaining craft completed within the same year.

• Increased funding for the Caracal class, frozen in quantity, is instead channeled to improving onboard equipment.

• The second two Alexandria class corvette tenders enter service.

• Bolians start a colony on the twelfth planet in their system.

• SS Hatteras, commanded by Gary Loes, launches from Earth for the exploration of the Ficus sector. Onboard are Ometepe island colonists of the Rubber Tree and Nicarao tribes, who end up settling on Trebus.

The SS Hatteras may have been a DY-245 class ship. The presence of Chakotay's ancestors is (somewhat) consistent with the histories of Dorvan V and Trebus.

• Early: The plans for the prospective Caracal class light cruiser are submitted.

• First half: Construction on the new Star Fleet Academy campus on Arbaza is completed.

• May: The basic Caracal design is "frozen", ordered ready for production at a quantity of 16.

• August: The first class of cadets at Star Fleet Academy (Arbaza) convenes.
