Historical Events

  • January 1st: Kenneth Wescott assumes the Presidency of the United Federation of Planets.[1]
He is the first to be elected by general election.
  • Boliax develops and initiates an assistance plan for the Uzorians: mass colonization of a nearby planet for the refugees.[2][3][4]
The date of this plan is SFC-canon.
The 2262 date is a best guess. The source indicates they were the second of three systems to rejoin the Federation in the 2260s.
  • All Pytheas subclass exploratory cruisers and some Ranger subclass light cruisers receive an upgrade.[6]
  • USS Atlanta (NCC-1440, Baton Rouge heavy cruiser) fights Orion forces in a completely successful mission of apprehending suspected, as well as known and convicted, pirates with zero casualties.[7]
  • During Exercise Have Gun, USS Azrael (NCC-527, Siva Flight II destroyer) suffers a major atmospheric leak and loses 12 crew when she drifts too close to the black star TNC 65823; the vessel—while disoriented—collides with the shields of the dreadnought USS Dominion (NCC-2115, Federation dreadnought).[8]
  • The Icarus and Ashanti class battle cruisers and Apache class heavy destroyers complete the refit period begun in 2259.[9]
  • Eight mothballed Texas class light cruisers are converted and recommissioned as Negrev subclass mine sweepers.[10]
  • Remaining original-type Nelson class scouts are converted to the Sager subclass.[12]
  • The two Moisanen subclass scouts are re-converted to the Sager subclass.[12]
  • The last Hubble class runabouts are decommissioned (and sold in the civilian market).[13]
  • The last HSI(U)-1B 'Bowditch' survey cutter (variant of the old Class G1 heavy warp shuttle) is removed from service with Star Fleet.[14]
  • The three ships of the Einstein subclass enter the yards for refit periods.[8]
  • The conversions of the Abbott subclass heavy repair ships are completed, and the ships begin supporting cruiser operations in deep space.[15]

  • The eight Coventry class strike frigates complete their auxiliary deflector spires installations.[17]
  • The first of the Thuringia class surveyors start receiving upgrades.[18]
  • The final Hephaestus subclass tender is completed.[19]
  • Resources are first allocated for cruiser-sized vessels solely for exploratory purposes.[20]
This is thru fiscal-year 2266.
  • Construction begins on the Bader class exploratory cruiser.[20]
  • The Solar Mk III cutter design is unveiled, starting the refit periods for the Mk Is, primarily developed around the PB-60 nacelle.[21][22]
  • The orbital troop transport version of the Benares hopper begins serving through several low-intensity campaigns in the restless Dilithium Belt sectors, mainly in support of peacekeeper and police forces.[23]
  • Production of the gunship version of the Benares hopper is ceased.[23]
  • Mass production of the Class F3 light shuttle allows it to be widely deployed aboard starships.[24]
  • The first production run of the Hellespont escort class is completed.[25]
  • The final Graynet class support corvette enters service with Star Fleet.[26]
  • The final Karekh class intel scout enters service with Star Fleet.[27]
  • The Tycho light sublight fightercraft enters service with Star Fleet.[28]
  • The AIG introduces a lighter and more affordable local destroyer type of a very similar design to their earlier Thufir, merging a saucer with an otherwise traditional Andorian layout.[30]
The year is randomly selected, from the years in the decade prior to the Lenthal Flight II escort being commissioned.
  • Star Fleet releases a a request for proposals for a transporter strike frigate capable of rapidly disembarking eight platoons of troops via transporter, maintaining a cruise speed of warp six, and carrying phaser and torpedo armament superior to that of the Coventry class.[31]
  • January: USS Pompey (NCC-506) begins her propulsive trials.[8]
  • January: USS Suleiman (NCC-508) and USS Sargon (NCC-504) begin their yard modifications to the Pompey subclass standard.[8]
  • January: The final Unity class command cruiser, USS Harmony (NCC-2119), is completed.[32]
  • Early: Construction begins on what started to be a Achernar export heavy cruiser, but becomes a Star Fleet variant instead.[33]
  • Late: USS Smith (Byrd class galactic survey cruiser)begins the second round of experimental modifications in an exploration of cruiser-carrier concepts.[35]
  • End: The last Hopi class large survey cruiser is completed.[36]
"All ten vessels were operational by 2263...": interpreting this as the final ship was completed late in this year (2262).
