The Confederacy of Vulcan was the Vulcan state and one of the five founding Federation member states. Prior to the Founding of the Federation, the Confederacy was a major interstellar power throughout what later became the core Federation worlds and participated in a long-standing rivalry with the Andorian Empire.[1]
History
- By the 4th century: Vulcan is rife with violence and war, arising from the desire for conquest and need for water resources.[2]
- By the 9th century: Vulcans establish a monastery on the world of P'Jem.[4]
- 1270: An armada of invading spaceships pour forth from a new wormhole that has formed near Vulcan and opens intermittently.[2]
- 1376: The intermittent wormhole closes for the final time; the invaders are hunted down and destroyed at their forward bases within the star system, but their identities are never discovered.[2]
- The year is SFC-specific; derived from "after a century of constant warfare...".
- 2135: By this time, Vulcan has the following colonies:
- Calanara
- Chara
- Harmony
- P'Jem
- Paan Mokar
- T'Rukhemai (moon of T'Khut)
- Trilan
- 2155: Alpha Centauri, Andoria, Earth, Tellar Prime, Vulcan, and minor worlds (including Axanar and Kaferia) approve a first draft agreement for an alliance to be formed for trade, cultural exchange, and mutual protection.[6]
- 2161: The governments of Alpha Centauri, Andoria, Earth, Tellar Prime, and Vulcan sign the Articles of the Federation; Vulcan joins the United Federation of Planets.
- 2218: A Vulcan nationalist group, similar to Earth First, starts to gain support, due in part to increasing Klingon hostility.[7]
