Historical Events

  • By: Sigma Draconis IV is recorded as having a pre-spaceflight culture and an industrial society on par with Earth in 2030 (despite the lack of orbital capability).[2]
  • January: USS Remora (NCC-E800, escort class) completes her propulsion upgrade and begins first trials.[3]
  • Star Fleet appears to be on a path to retire the entirety of the Larson destroyer class by 2273.[4]
  • Several ships of the various Rochester classes have to be placed under range restrictions or outright sailing bans, due to the stresses previously placed upon their warp nacelles. Most do not operate in deep space any longer, and several operate collectively in key star systems as (still-commissioned) training ships.[5]
  • USS Lovell (NCC-188, Daedalus survey cruiser) is destroyed by the Shedai in the Taurus Reach region.[6]
  • The Strider class courier/scout is fully retired, once again.[7]
Year is conjecture, but it is more than a decade following re-activation.
  • The second vessel of the Ahaw Kin reconnaissance corvette subclass (of Ariadne patrol corvette) enters service.[8]
The year of production is mostly conjecture.
  • Select vessels of the Ariadne class (and its subclasses) start receiving transporter upgrades.[8]
  • Deliberately mercantile transports are intended to be be built and fitted with the LN-23 early linear warp engine this year, but the proposal is shelved due to severe issues with the engines.[9]
  • The specialized small cargo pods (of the S Type) are retired.[10]
  • USS Woden (NCC-G325, Wanda class) is destroyed in a friendly fire incident.[10]
  • The last of the Richter class cruisers and Heston class battle cruisers are decommissioned.[11]
  • In the most devastating and public loss of an Icarus battle cruiser, USS Golden Hind (NCC-1142) misjudges a warp approach and slams into Devon, blasting a huge crater in the surface and killing thousands by direct and secondary shockwave and radiation effects.[12]
  • Following the Golden Hind tragedy, Star Fleet orders the idling of all ships equipped with the PB-27 nacelle; recall orders are issued across the operating theater.[12]
  • Prior to this year, there are no recorded attacks by Romulans on cargo runs, since the war.[13]
  • The first of the Rochester sub-class cruisers start withdrawing from service; the Kitty Hawk sub-class starts to follow thereafter (year unknown).[5]
  • USS Dauntless (NCC-1697, Pyotr Velikiy support cruiser) is severely damaged in combat with Klingon rogues and retires to Starbase 11 for repairs.[14]
  • The final Mk III sub-class support cruiser is decommissioned.[14]
The proper sub-class name for these variants of the Pyotr Velikiy class will be determined later.
  • The final Class F2 / MSI(U)-2 'Matchbox' light shuttle is removed from service with Star Fleet.[16]
  • The final Class B6 / IP-27 work pod is removed from service with Star Fleet.[17]
  • USS Intrepid (NCC-1708, Constitution heavy cruiser) is destroyed by an incredibly huge, simple cellular being.[19]
  • Thirteen Larson class destroyers begin the Mk VII modification, that would equip them with LN series warp engines and modern sensors.[4]
  • USS Buenos Aires (NCC-1840, Miranda heavy frigate) is lost on a deep-space assignment.[20]
  • The 2266 upgrade period for the Miranda class heavy frigates completes.[20]
  • USS Malacca (NCC-F2032, Aakenn heavy transport) is destroyed in a covert Klingon operations strike at Starbase 47.[21]
  • The Thuringia class surveyors are suddenly recalled from their deep-space assignments.[22]
The line "[s]hut off from deep space by policy changes" suggests the Vulcan Science Directorate's T'Pari surveyors may have been under similar restrictions.
  • For the first time in Federation history, various civilian research organizations received direct operational and financial responsibility for government-sponsored, state-of-the-art starships.[25]
  • The entire run of the scout subclass Keiths are produced.[25]
  • The final 2 Santee shuttlecarriers were transferred to the reserves as "escort carriers".[26]
  • The final Mk I Mo'Kal light fleet tug is completed for Star Fleet.[27]
The commercial variant of the Mark I will continue to be produced into 2270.
  • Shipyards at Rigel begin construction on three Defender class battleships.[28]
  • The Vulcans sponsor the construction of two Defender class battleships, the USS M’Hasien and USS S’Harien at New Aberdeen.[28]
  • Construction on Defender class battleships USS Dataphda and USS Divine Wind begins at Tiburon and Izar, respectively.[28]
  • The planets of Ramatis are threatened by an uncontrolled Star Fleet starship traveling at high warp towards the system.[29]
  • The Starnes Expedition, a party of archeologists on Triacus, are all fatally poisoned (with the exception of the children) by a malevolent entity, the last of its kind.[30]
  • The Bader class exploratory cruisers resume their original role of exploration.[33]
As a result of the Organian truce of the previous year.
  • The USS Bader, USS Clifton, and USS Tombaugh (Bader class exploratory cruisers) host a series of Sagan Award recipients for the first year, while the USS Akela and USS Crescent retrace old survey routes.[33]
This occurs through 2274.
  • The final Mk I Solar class cutter scheduled for refit to Mk III standard is completed.[34]
  • SS Lucas Garner (NAR-29611, Sulek or Velikovski prospector) visits Starbase 11 prior to departing for a prospecting sortie to Beta Vertis, where the vessel stakes the iridium-platinum asteroids for Federation use.[35]
  • Star Fleet completes the modification of 30 Malaka class light scoutcraft to perform as hybrid resource/SIGINT scouts that are sent to mingle with prospecting parties and to keep watch on competing Klingon survey teams.[36]
  • Star Fleet completes the modification of the remaining Aden class light scoutcraft into support & patrol cutters.[36]
  • The troop transport version of the Benares hopper finishes operations in the low-intensity campaigns of the Dilithium Belt sectors, mainly in support of peacekeeper and police forces.[37]
This occurs following the computer's disconnection.
This occurs following the team of advisors' arrival.
  • The final Epsilon class cutter is assembled.[42]
  • The Type 8 shuttlepod completes production.[43]
  • The final Ranger class courier in the original configuration is produced and sold to Federation customers.[44]
This refers (primarily) to non-Star Fleet/non-Federation government purchasers.
  • The final Class C2B aquashuttle is produced.[45]
  • Star Fleet receives the final ordered Chisu light and Fikaru cargo shuttlepods.[46]
  • Early: One further Federation dreadnought is still under (secret) construction.[47]
This is the USS Star Empire (NCC-2116).
  • Early: Prior to the handover to civilian research organizations, the Keith class surveyors are given modern communications systems (for unspecified ‘future needs’), and the phasers removed, though the weapons berths were left unsealed.[25]
  • Mid: USS Exeter (NCC-1706, Constitution heavy cruiser) is towed from Omega IV, fumigated, and idled until 2272.[24]
The fumigation is presumed, and the return from dormancy (in 2272) is based upon it being idle, without a crew, and so more likely to be converted earlier than some other active ships.
  • Later: Interdiction cruiser USS Wotan (NX-1390), the defensive monitor test-bed vessel, is decommissioned.[48]
Conjecture.
  • Later: Half of the remaining Kearsarge sub-class light cruisers are ordered to a modified 'reserve' status (in practice, the ships were merely idled in a manner similar to the dreadnoughts and HQ ships).[48]
