Summary
- The Mann and Ranger class light cruisers form Starfleet’s main defense against the Klingons, ‘holding the fort’ until ships designed from the outset to oppose the warrior empire are fielded.[1]
- The Baton Rouge heavy cruisers and Detroyat and Saladin destroyers start replacing the Manns and Rangers in the contested Federation/Klingon space.[2]

- The last Y class transports cease operation in the Federation (per official records) this decade.[3]
- The remaining Iceland class destroyers (long grounded) are scrapped for construction materials.[4]
- The Watt class fleet tanker/transports are ordered de-commissioned and sold for scrap.[5]
- The Ariadne class patrol corvettes (and its subclasses) are collectively painted more subdued colors and sensor-absorbing coatings, in order to better hide from aggressors.[6]
