- Star Fleet is starting to withdraw the Sentinel class scout cruiser from scouting duties, as the class was now slower than many standard warp four ships in service.[1]
- USS Bastion (NCC-811, Sentinel scout cruiser) is lost fighting a Klingon raiding group. Fighting against overwhelming numerical odds, she demonstrates the inferiority of Klingon preparedness, eliminating five opponents before being lost.[1][2]
- The Sentinel class and Armstrong subclass receive a weapons upgrade.[1]
- The Titan sub-class shuttlecarrier enters service with Star Fleet.[3]
- The final ship of the Hermes scout class is completed.[4]
- The Wanda subclass (of the Sherman class) cargo drone enters service with Star Fleet.[5]
- The Richter class cruiser enters service with Star Fleet.[6]
- Star Fleet decides to start overhauling old Texas class light cruisers for front line duty, in order to overcome the low ship numbers. USS Rub al Khali (NCC-926) is selected to be the first to receive an overhaul (to what will be named the Navigator sub-class).[7]
