History

These Debrune will name themselves V'gelnians (after their name for Rigel V) and will eventually refer to themselves as Zami.
  • 553: The Zami and Kaylar settle into their preferred parts of Rigel V, ending the conflict, with the Zami entering into trade deals with the neighboring Orions.[2]
  • 2244: Klingon intelligence mistakenly identifies Rigel V as the location of a major military command center (that must be "pacified").[4][5]
The source material—both the FASA Four Years War sourcebook & the "Surya / Coventry Class Frigate / Heavy Frigate" issue mined for this factoid—are modified for SFC to have Adhara, a fairly remote Beta quadrant location, replaced by Rigel IV, which is more of a reasonable target for the Klingons during this conflict.
  • 2293: Following an investigation by Star Fleet that uncovers prostitution, illegal animal trading, and child slavery as endemic to the culture and government of Beta Rigel IV and V, both planets are immediately suspended from the Federation.[7]
  • 2297: After very public internal investigations and prosecutions of the identified slavers, Beta Rigel IV and V are re-admitted into the Federation.[8]
The expulsion and re-admission is SFC-canon; the date of admission is from the source.

Important Locations

Notes

  • This is the (adopted) homeworld of the Zami.
  • The Hakel radiation belt emitted by Beta Rigel A provides a "green zone" environment for all the planets—including those in orbit of Beta Rigel BC—with the exception of Rigel I and the asteroid belt situated in the orbit just beyond it.
