- The Detroyat heavy destroyer class is no longer active (having been converted to Miramar heavy scout class).[5]
- The Miramar sub-class heavy scout (re-)enters service with Star Fleet.[5]
- Siva Flight II destroyer USS Alexandria (NCC-422) is destroyed and another two, USS Carthage (NCC-428) and USS Massilia (NCC-421) are damaged in an audacious ramming attack by Klingon special forces at Starbase 19. Losses of personnel are light, but material damage is too great to warrant repairs of the crippled destroyers.[6]
- Construction starts on the Keppler sub-class of the Ptolemy fleet tug/tenders, the first of the Ptolemies to incorporate the re-authorized dilithium warp cores.[7]

- The Federation deploys an ambassador and a retinue of Star Fleet ships & personnel to the peace conference on Axanar, to negotiate the defense and a scheduled return of Izar, Melev, and Altair to the UFP.[20]
- Early: The remaining Detroyat class ships have the decommissioning order overturned and are directed to conversion to a special sensor platform role.[5]
- Early: USS Federation (NCC-2100, dreadnought) sails out of construction dock fully on schedule, for extensive trials.[16]
- May: Through-deck cruiser USS Santee (NCC-1925) is completed, ushering in the class' service to Star Fleet.[18]
