Historical Events

  • Boliax develops and initiates an assistance plan for the people of Uzor: mass colonization of a nearby planet for the Uzorian refugees.[1][2][3]
The date of this plan is SFC-canon.
The 2262 date is a best guess. The source indicates they were the second of three systems to rejoin the Federation in the 2260s.
  • All Pytheas subclass exploratory cruisers and some Ranger subclass light cruisers receive an upgrade.[5]
  • USS Atlanta (NCC-1440, Baton Rouge heavy cruiser) fights Orion forces in a completely successful mission of apprehending suspected, as well as known and convicted, pirates with zero casualties.[6]
  • During Exercise Have Gun, USS Azrael (NCC-527, Siva Flight II destroyer) suffers a major atmospheric leak and loses 12 crew when she drifts too close to the black star TNC 65823 and, while disoriented, collides with the shields of the dreadnought USS Dominion (NCC-2115, Federation dreadnought).[7]
  • The Icarus and Ashanti class battle cruisers and Apache class heavy destroyers complete the refit period begun in 2259.[8]
  • Eight mothballed Texas class light cruisers are converted and recommissioned as Negrev subclass mine sweepers.[9]
  • Remaining original-type Nelson class scouts are converted to the Sager subclass.[11]
  • The two Moisanen subclass scouts are re-converted to the Sager subclass.[11]
  • The last Hubble class runabouts are decommissioned (and sold in the civilian market).[12]
  • The last HSI(U)-1B 'Bowditch' survey cutter (variant of the old Class G1 heavy warp shuttle) is removed from service with Star Fleet.[13]
  • The three ships of the Einstein subclass enter the yards for refit periods.[7]
  • The conversions of the Abbott subclass heavy repair ships are completed, and the ships begin supporting cruiser operations in deep space.[14]
  • The first set of Grayson class buoy tenders are transferred to the reserves.[15]
  • The eight Coventry class strike frigates complete their auxiliary deflector spires installations.[16]
  • The first of the Thuringia class surveyors start receiving upgrades.[17]
  • The final Hephaestus subclass tender is completed.[18]
  • Resources are first allocated for cruiser-sized vessels solely for exploratory purposes.[19]
This is thru fiscal-year 2266.
  • Construction begins on the Bader class exploratory cruiser.[19]
  • The Solar Mk III cutter design is unveiled, starting the refit periods for the Mk Is.[20]
  • The orbital troop transport version of the Benares hopper begins serving through several low-intensity campaigns in the restless Dilithium Belt sectors, mainly in support of peacekeeper and police forces.[21]
  • Production of the gunship version of the Benares hopper is ceased.[21]
  • Mass production of the Class F3 light shuttle allows it to be widely deployed aboard starships.[22]
  • The first production run of the Hellespont escort class is completed.[23]
  • The final Graynet class support corvette enters service with Star Fleet.[24]
  • The final Karekh class intel scout enters service with Star Fleet.[25]
  • The Tycho light sublight fightercraft enters service with Star Fleet.[26]
  • January: USS Pompey (NCC-506) begins her propulsive trials.[7]
  • January: USS Suleiman (NCC-508) and USS Sargon (NCC-504) begin their yard modifications to the Pompey subclass standard.[7]
  • January: The final Unity class command cruiser, USS Harmony (NCC-2119), is completed.[28]
  • Early: Construction begins on what started to be a Achernar export heavy cruiser, but becomes a Star Fleet variant instead.[29]
  • Late: USS Smith (Byrd class galactic survey cruiser) begins the second round of experimental modifications, to explore models of the cruiser-carrier concept.[30]
  • End: The last Hopi class large survey cruiser is completed.[31]
"All ten vessels were operational by 2263...": interpreting this as the final ship was completed late in this year (2262).
