- The Horizon and Advance class vessels begin a weapons upgrade.[3]
- The "Klingon Offensive" takes place.[4]
- A multi-ship conflict occurs between the Klingon Empire and Star Fleet. Light cruiser USS Ranger (NCC-781) is boarded and captured.[5][6]
- The capture of the Ranger during this engagement is presumed; game-canon.
- The Earth First movement gains new support and spawns similar groups across the UFP, including on Andor, Tellar and Vulcan.[7]
- Mann class light cruisers are upgraded with experimental modern torpedo systems and third-generation Vickers warp engines.[7]
- Four additional Mann class light cruisers (upgraded) start to enter service with Star Fleet.[7]
- The final Ranger sub-class light cruiser is built.[6]
- Due to the loss of USS Ranger to the Klingon Empire, Star Fleet develops an intense interest in developing an all-new cruiser class, utilizing the so-called 'third generation' warp propulsion technology.[8]
- Star Fleet established the [Awards_(UFP_SF)#Awards_for_Service|Purple Service]] award for recognition of injuries sustained as a direct result of combat action while serving Star Fleet.[9]
- Star Fleet established the [Awards_(UFP_SF)#Awards_for_Service|Survival Cross]] award for recognition of "[s]urvival from captivity by enemy forces in which a state of war exists or a period of one month or longer in which the recognized personnel have been stranded in an inhospitable or arduous environment".[9]
