The Aventeur I mission (also known as the first of the Grand Tours) launches from Earth with the Lewis and Clark, with Christopher, Fontana and O'Herlihy in deep cryosleep. | [1]
By this time, 6 manned orbital platforms have been assembled over Earth. | [5]
The New United Nations convenes for the first time. | SFC
The Lewis and Clark arrives at and studies Jupiter, with the first manned visit to the planet. | [1]
The US Strategic Command turns over its exploration and commercial administration space mission roles to the International Space Agency (ISA). | SFC
The Lewis and Clark arrives at and studies Saturn, the first manned spacecraft to visit the planet. | [1]
The crew of the Lewis and Clark discovers evidence of extraterrestrial mining on the moons of Enceladus and Dione. | [1]
Several European nations, including France, become politically destabilized. | [6]
The opening conflicts of World War III break out, with factions of eco-terrorists launching attacks responsible for as many as 37 million deaths. | [6]
The Ares I is Earth's first manned mission back to Mars, since the fall of the Great Khanate. | [7]
The United States, Eastern Coalition and European Alliance work together to divert a series of asteroids from hitting the planet, capturing six of them for resource mining. | [8]
09 February: Zefram Cochrane was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. | [9][10]
October 19th: The Ares IV mission to Mars fails when the command capsule disappears, stranding two astronauts on the surface. The Ares V launches early to perform the rescue of the stranded Ares IV astronauts. | [7]
The multi-national manned prototype AFP-1 experimented on an e-beam pulsed fusion detonation drive but met with a disaster, with 14 lives lost. | [11]
February: Tau One, the Daedalus, becomes the first manned vessel to attempt to leave the Sol system, when it launches for the heliopause. | [5]
The evidence of extraterrestrial mining on Saturn's moons is released to select space-exploration nations. | [1]
The UNSS Columbus, first in a series of interstellar sublight explorers, launches for Saturn on a test run. | [11]
The three remaining in-transit vessels of the Columbus series are considered to be inevitable losses as communications with each is lost to ion storms. | [11]
A series of confrontations between the New United Nations and the ECON begin to occur over oil fields located in Antarctica and China. | [6]
Columbus is destroyed by an Econ attack, while in orbit. | [11]
