  • The last of the Cavalry class destroyer is withdrawn from Starfleet service.[2]

Before the Advance subclass was ordered, 18 were funded; the total was increased to 26 with the Advances.
  • Starfleet orders 8 of a variant of the Sentinel class, known as the Armstrong scout cruiser subclass. Construction starts on the first vessel.[6]
Date of order is presumed to be 4 years prior to first delivery, as was with the Sentinel class.
  • The Engineering Division is now planning ship classes two generations ahead of the current Fleet assets.[7]
