• The UFP brings the Humans of Polar City (and other colonies on Rigel IV) into its jurisdiction (but not membership), in order to provide protection.

Background material is per the Star Trek Roleplaying Game, Book 7: Worlds. There's no mention of other races falling under UFP auspices.

• The UFP extends membership to Risa.

• The B5 HSA(P/C)-20 'Chippewa' heavy atmospheric shuttle is withdrawn from service aboard starships, though continues in planetary assignments, especially at outposts.

• End of year: The last of the six unmodified Baton Rouge class heavy cruisers, from USS Philadelphia (NCC-1425) to USS Astrakhan (NCC-1430), are retired and mothballed.

This occurred prior to 2250.

• USS Siva (NCC-520, Siva sub-class) is the first of 51 ships to start receiving refit to the Siva II configuration.

• The first of the Saladin sub-class ships to receive the Siva II refit enters drydock.
