Historical Events
- In a pyrrhic victory, USS Akula (NCC-275, Placido scout) is lost following combat against Klingons at the Battle of Arquin Pillar, as are the USS Kwajalein (NCC-406, Trent light phase gun destroyer) and USS Jacoubet (NCC-479, Dace light torpedo destroyer). The battle also marked the first of massed sublight fightercraft by a Star Fleet task force, to a dismal failure. Two of the nine Trents deployed to the region fall out and do not make the engagement.[1][2]
- USS Audace (Caracal cruiser) falls victim to unknown enemies – most likely prey to Klingon disruptor cannon. The disappearance of the Audace was only noticed months after the fact; no flight recorder marker was found.[3]
- The United Federation of Planets extends membership to Delta IV.[4]
- The United Federation of Planets extends membership to the Kashet Confederacy.[5]
- By June 1st: The colony on Sigma Draconis V has a population of 2.25 million individuals, mostly Vulcan.[6]
- June 18th: A Federation-flagged mining ship, Castro, is destroyed in the Sussmen-MacFarlene system's asteroid belt by a Klingon D5.[7]
- In response to the destruction of the Castro, the UFP levies sanctions against the Klingon Empire and establishes mandatory trade treaty reviews with all non-UFP states that also do business with the Klingons.[7]
- USS Vasco da Gama (NCC-1472, Aldrin subclass) is commissioned.[8]
- The Syracuse class destroyer enters service with Star Fleet.[9]
- Modification work on the Syracuse destroyer design begins.[9]
- This is the design phase for the Saladin subclass.
- VXT Interstellar concludes production of the Hubble class runabout.[10]
- Presumed, based on the four-year production run of the succeeding Penzias subclass.
- New Amsterdam Gravitics is founded on Alpha Sirius III.[11]
- The Bolians start a colony on the outermost planet in their system, for the purposes of subspace research.[6][12]
