The Deltan Union was founded in the seventeenth century and operates as a true direct democracy, with all laws and government policies decided by popular vote. Executive functions are administered by the Presidium Cabinet, headed by a prime minister, and elected every twelve years.
History
- Early 18th century: The Deltans achieve spaceflight.[2]

- Star Trek Service Records Simulator indicates it was the first colony, so SFC places it before the exploration of Delta II.
- 1896: The first Deltan warp-vessels encountered the Ghanods, the nearest sentient neighbors to Delta IV.[2]
- 1898: The Deltans are forced to break off contact with the Ghanods due to the "sexual madness" impact of the Deltan pheromones.[2][3]
- 1942: The Deltan Union and Denobulan Unity establish merchant ties.[5][3]
- 2140: The Deltan Union establishes a scientific colony on Fomalhaut's sole planet.[6]
- 2142: The Deltan Union and United Earth establish diplomatic relations and a prosperous trade partnership.[5]
- 2223: The United Federation of Planets extends membership to the Deltan Union.[7][3]
- I decided to break with the unpublished LUG piece on this, because Delta IV is so close to Earth and it just didn't make sense that there had been no contact until the mid-23rd century. Tranquility Press's timeline worked.
- 2376: Two Iconian gateways open up in the vicinity of Carrea and Delta IV, both leading to an uninhabited resource-rich world that both worlds desire.[8]
- 2380: The Deltans allow Carrea to establish a scientific base on Brannik IV in exchange for a water reclamation system on Delta IV.[8]
