Historical Events
- The final recorded attempt of piracy on a Watt class fleet tanker/transport occurs, and is foiled. Seventy-eight attempts have now been made (all failed), though four Watts are lost by this year to technical failure, two to natural phenomena, and one to a game of Go.[1]
- The real events of the 2215 Allegany incident are revealed and the backlash does significant damage to public relations.[2]
- The Horizon and Advance class vessels begin a weapons upgrade.[3]
- The "Klingon Offensive" takes place.[4]
- A multi-ship conflict occurs between the Klingon Empire and Star Fleet. Light cruiser USS Ranger (NCC-781) is boarded and captured.[5][6][7]
- The capture of the Ranger during this engagement is presumed. Last Unicorn Games' sourcebooks indicate the Ranger "discovered" the Klingons in this year, well after the Federation's 2161 founding, but this was determined before Star Trek: Enterprise.
- The Earth First movement gains new support and spawns similar groups across the UFP, including on Andor, Tellar and Vulcan.[8]
- Mann class light cruisers are upgraded with experimental modern torpedo systems and third-generation Vickers warp engines.[8]
- Four additional Mann class light cruisers (upgraded) start to enter service with Star Fleet.[8]
- The final Ranger sub-class light cruiser is built.[6]
- Due to the loss of USS Ranger to the Klingon Empire, Star Fleet develops an intense interest in developing an all-new cruiser class, utilizing the so-called 'third generation' warp propulsion technology.[9]
- Star Fleet established the Purple Service award for recognition of injuries sustained as a direct result of combat action while serving Star Fleet.[7]
- Star Fleet established the Survival Cross award for recognition of "[s]urvival from captivity by enemy forces in which a state of war exists or a period of one month or longer in which the recognized personnel have been stranded in an inhospitable or arduous environment".[7]
Characters
- Robert Stone is born.[10]
