History

  • About 203,000 BCE: Orion astronauts (from Beta Rigel VII) reach Rigel XII and study the superstring located above the south pole.[3]
  • 2190s: Human and Andorian prospectors establish scattered mining colonies on Rigel XII, with the lithium-cracking plant at Childress Camp the largest.[1]

Important Locations

Notes

  • Rigel XII has naturally-occurring lithium crystals that can be mined at high levels of purity; dilithium exists in plentiful quantities beneath the frozen sea of the north pole (requiring expensive & bulky equipment).[4]
