Historical Events

  • Early: The Mk Ia Larson class destroyer begins production.[1]
The Mk Ia was the particle cannon variant used until the torpedo launcher systems were ready.
  • The Babel Conference is held.[2]
The source suggests two conferences were held (and boycotted by dissident planets) between the 2238 and (planned) 2241 conferences.
  • The Melev government changes course and denounces the anti-UFP separatist movement and received Federation military aid (before reverting back to a separatist stance).[2]
  • Izar exerts pressure on the various Rigelian governments to withdraw from the Federation.[2]
  • Altair is torn apart by factions for and against continued UFP membership.[2]
  • The Baton Rouge class heavy cruisers start receiving the new dilithium regulation engine refits. USS Brandenburg (NCC-1413) completes her Sol system yard period before USS Adelaide (NCC-1424) begins hers.[3]
The text indicates the ships -following the first- started receiving the engine after 2239.
  • USS Siva (NCC-520) is commissioned, initiating the Siva sub-class destroyer.[4]
  • The Tholians are suspected for the loss of USS Farragut (NCC-1646, Richter class).[5]
  • USS Pardalis is destroyed accidentally by the Caitians shortly after making first contact; however, the arrival by the first aliens encountered by these felines short-circuits a long civil war between the various planets.[6]
Caitians (also known as Regulans) were spread out over several colony worlds, with no subspace communications (though possibly with FTL ships). Star Fleet survivors of the attack vouch for the Caitians' true intentions.
  • The Mark Ia variant of the Larson class destroyer enters service with Star Fleet.[1]
  • April: With the commissioning of the USS Nelson (NCC-4480), the Nelson class scout enters service with Star Fleet.[8]
  • Mid-to-Late: The Mk Ib Larson class destroyer begins production.[1]
The Mk Ib was the intended torpedo-equipped variant.
  • The Mark Ib variant of the Larson class destroyer enters service with Star Fleet.[1]
  • September: USS Pyotr Velikiy (NX-1670) receives and has installed the planned PB-30 ‘Sabre’ nacelles.[9]
  • November: USS Pyotr Velikiy (NX-1670) reaches a high sustained speed of warp 7.7 during flight tests.[9]


New Technology

  • Warp core maximum overload extended to 14 minutes.
