• The first of the Burke, Aldrin and Magellan sub-class frigates (and scout cruisers) start receiving a transporter system upgrade.

• USS Byrd (first of her class), on the return leg of her 25-year voyage, re-enters communications range.

• The final Class B2 inspection pod is removed from service with Starfleet.

• USS Republic (NCC-1371, Constitution) is deactivated (mothballed).

She will be re-activated for training purposes in the late 2280s.
