Historical Events

• The United Federation of Planets extends membership to Rigel IV (the Human colonists).

Background material is per the Star Trek Roleplaying Game, Book 7: Worlds. The year of admission is game-canon. Rigel IV is the second of three planets in the system to join the Federation.

• Childress Camp on Rigel XII becomes a key refining plant for the entire sector, when the dilithium extraction equipment arrives.

• The first of twelve Kovaris subclass (of the Trent class) light destroyers (all of the torpedo type) are reactivated and upgraded for emergency service in the wake of the Organian disappearance.

• USS Hamilton and USS Ark Royal, both Titan sub-class shuttlecarriers, are mothballed again.

• Most of the original Syracuse sub-class ships (in their current Siva II configuration) have been decommissioned by this time.

• Starfleet decides to collectively call the 15 different standards and seven official subclasses of heavy cruisers Constitution class, instead of using specific sub-variant names.

• All remaining (original) Texas class hulls, previously mothballed, are ordered scrapped, due to tightening Starfleet budgets.
