Historical Events

• The Ariadne patrol corvette class (and its subclasses) starts receiving a weapons upgrade.

• USS Troy (NCC-423, Siva destroyer) and USS Hellas (NCC-426, Siva destroyer) succumb to Klingon forces at Delta Leonis.

Probably prior to the Final Battle of Axanar. The two names are acquired for the Loknar class.

• The last of eight Aldrin subclass deep space frigates are refit to Magellan subclass scout cruiser standards.

• The Detroyat class heavy cruiser receives a transporter upgrade.

• Pre-commission Ares (NCC-602, Monoceros scout) is damaged beyond salvage during the final construction phase, in what appears to be an accident.

This was later revealed to have been just one of several Romulan acts of sabotage on starship construction that year.

• The last Hermes subclass scout is converted to Monoceros standard.

• The final Monoceros subclass newbuild is completed.

• This year's defense review seals the fate of numerous pre-dilithium ship types.

• Additional recycled PB-28 warp nacelles are no longer available, so production of new ones now supports the Cochrane class construction.

• Construction of the Centurion subclass reconnaissance cruiser begins.

• The Coventry class strike frigate enters service, following debate about the increasing numbers of frigates.

• Star Fleet adopts a new uniform.

• The United Federation of Planets extends membership to Kashet.

• April 6: USS Antares (NCC-L717, Procyon class corvette) is severely disabled through an accidental self-mining incident, leading to her mothballing until her conversion in 2275.

Timo clearly intends for this to occur in 2245, with his statement of "sending...to mothballs for the following three decades"; if SD 4526.2 means it occurred in 2245, then I'm presuming "26.2" refers to 26.2% through that year, i.e., April 6.

• April 11: USS Enterprise (NCC-1701, Constitution heavy cruiser) is commissioned, with program manager CAPT Robert April in command. USS Constitution (NCC-1700) is commissioned shortly after.

The order of commissioning is not clear in Timo (though it does say they "were held almost concurrently"), but I recall that there was a factoid that the Big E came before the Connie.

• May: USS Republic (NCC-1371, Constitution heavy cruiser) is re-commissioned.

The year is conjecture, based upon her re-assignment to training duty in 2248.

• June: USS Constellation (NCC-1017, Constitution heavy cruiser) is re-commissioned.

The year is conjecture. It is presumed she was commissioned after Republic due to the less extensive modifications to the sister ship.

• September: In the Final Battle of Axanar, the "battered" heavy cruiser USS Constitution and three of her "half-finished" sisters are moved to the forward repair base in orbit of the planet as a lure.

• December: The Star Fleet Marine Corps (2245) reorganizes in the wake of the Four Years' War.
