Conjecture

• The United Federation of Planets extends membership to Xeletia.

The membership in the Federation originally came from the Federation Space fan campaign, based upon a FASA RPG first encounter (in 2282).

• The Siva II sub-class destroyer is retired from Star Fleet.

• The last of the Ptolemy class fleet tug/tenders is decommissioned.

• USS Republic (NCC-1371, Constitution heavy cruiser) is again deactivated.

The year is speculation, but it did occur in the late 2280s and she would appear to have been active for an extremely short period of time.

• The colony of Ivor is founded.

• The Vulcan Science Directorate idles the final K’Kmarak surveyor.

• First contact between the Federation and the Cardassian Union, when a Star Fleet explorer encounters a Cardassian scout ship shadowing a Klingon flotilla; after a brief exchange of weapons fire by the scout ship, diplomatic talks begin.

• USS Yamato (Defender class battleship) is destroyed in a collision with a with a fueling lighter.

• The remaining Tycho class light sublight fightercraft, flown exclusively by Star Fleet Academy, are replaced by Gadflies.

• In the Jatyin-Rockefeller incident, USS Rockefeller's boarding party eliminates the transport crew of twenty and "frees" some sixty Orions from "slavery", only to have the Orions turn on them, killing seven, and demanding a return to the Klingon Empire.

• The Carbonare corsair subclass enters service with Star Fleet.

• USS Essex (NCC-1727, Constitution Flt III heavy cruiser) is reassigned as a training ship.

• January 21st: President-elect Ra-ghoratreii is sworn in.
