Historical Events
- Select ships within the Syracuse family class start receiving the latest transporter upgrades.[1]
- The Keppler subclass (of Ptolemy class) fleet tug/tenders complete their overhauls with the LN-52 warp engines.[2]
- USS Trailblazer (NCC-1596, Kitty Hawk cruiser), in service to TacFleet, is rendered un-spaceworthy (though not in combat with an enemy) and stricken from the Fleet rolls.[3]
- USS Recovery, a massive rescue drone prototype, is lost during its space trials due to sabotage by Tholian forces.[4][5]
- The final Class B7 / HSA-106 heavy atmospheric/spatial shuttle is removed from service with Star Fleet.[6]
- USS T’Pool (NAR-24307, Thuringia surveyor) is crippled by an unexpected coronal mass ejection during a standard nova survey.[7]
- After the crew was evacuated aboard USS Agincourt (NCC-4314), the survey vessel was set adrift with marker beacons activated, though the T'Pool is never refound.
- The Vulcan Science Directorate idles the last (unconverted) T'Pari surveyor.[7]
- USS Exeter (NCC-1706, Constitution heavy cruiser), having been dormant since being returned from Omega IV and fumigated (in 2268), is selected for a modernization refit.[8]
- She will also be recommissioned as USS Indomitable.
- Two Hopi class large survey cruisers are disarmed and sold forward to domestic users.[9]
- There is a Xindi incursion from a long-neglected section of the lower coreward Federation border, involving Achernar and Constitution heavy cruisers and Benning/Theseus heavy frigates. At least 10 CF-268 Talion sublight fightercraft take part in the battle of Parkinson Point.[10][11][12][13]
- The final conversion of a Flight II Okinawa light frigate is completed.[14]
- July:: Former Remora Flight I member Catfish (NCC-E813) is recommissioned as USS Charger (NCC-3482), class ship for the Charger subtype.[16]
- August: USS Sturgeon (NCC-3472, Remora Flight II escort) is abandoned after being devastated by the Xindi-Feline, with light casualties only. USS Pirarucu (NCC-3465) survives to limp to port, but 48 of her crew do not.[16]
- September: The huge, autonomous vessel known as V'Ger approaches Earth after passing through a portion of the Klingon Empire. This initiates the early launch of the heavy cruiser USS Enterprise (NCC-1701), having almost completed refit to the Enterprise standard.[17][18][8]
- The USS Bader, USS Clifton, and USS Tombaugh (Bader class exploratory cruisers) host a series of Sagan Award recipients for the fifth year, while the USS Akela and USS Crescent retrace old survey routes.[19]
- This occurs through 2274.
- USS Jones (NCC-1493, Bader class exploratory cruiser) starts a conversion to Flight III status.[19]
- The final Velikovski class prospector is produced.[20]
- The Class F3 light shuttle is retired from Star Fleet service.[21]
- The Mark I version of the Lenthal destroyer class operated by the AIG is replaced by Star Fleet-compatible variants.[22]
- Note: "Mark I" is a term used by the AIG and should not be changed to "Flight" here.
- Following the refitting of three Flight Is to Flight II status, Star Fleet Training Command begins gradually selling the remaining 12 Ranger training ships forward to the civilian market in a stripped-down configuration.[23]
- The first Ranger Flight III corsair enters service with Star Fleet Intelligence (and other "mandated" users).[23]
- Star Fleet re-authorizes construction of the Griffon escort class, with 28 of the uprated linear-nacelle Terrier subclass.[24]
- The last Brenton Flight I cruiser is refitted to Flight III status.[13]
- The last Brenton Flight II command ship is refitted to Flight IV status.[13]
