The Andorian Empire, also known as the Andorian Star Clan and the Andorian Star Empire, was the name of the Andorian state. Centered on the moon of Andoria, the Andorian Empire was one of the five founding member states of the United Federation of Planets, having signed the Articles of the Federation on 12 August 2161.[1]
History
- Early 20th century: First contact between the Andorians and Vulcans takes place.[2]
- This suggests that warp capability might have been provided to the Andorians by the Vulcans, since the former had not yet established a colony even in their own system. Maybe this is the initiation of the hostilities, if the Andorians broke trust with the Vulcans after acquiring (or by acquiring?) warp technology.
- 20th century-22nd century: State of hostility exists between the Andorian Empire and the Confederacy of Vulcan, with numerous hot and cold wars.[1]
- September 1996: The Andorian Empire is formed upon the establishment of the first offworld colony.[1]
- July 2022: The Andorian Empire makes first contact with the Vegan Tyranny. War is the result.[1]
- 2045: The Andorian Empire reaches its height with the possession of thirteen colonies outside their home system.[1]
- 2058: The negotiations of the first territorial accords between Vulcan and Andoria regarding Weytahn begin.[4][3]
- 2063: The negotiations of the first territorial accords between Vulcan and Andoria regarding Weytahn fall apart.[4][3]
- 2097: A treaty is signed between Vulcan and Andoria, wherein Vulcan claims Weytahn and places an interdiction order over it.[2]
- June 2151: First contact between the Andorian Empire and United Earth.[5]
- 2152: The Andorian Embassy opens on Earth; the United Earth Embassy opens on Andoria.[3]
- 2155: Alpha Centauri, Andor, Earth, Tellar, Vulcan, and minor worlds (including Axanar and Kaferia) approve a first draft agreement for an alliance to be formed for trade, cultural exchange, and mutual protection.[6]
- 2161: The governments of Alpha Centauri, Andor, Earth, Tellar, and Vulcan sign the Articles of the Federation; the Andorian Empire joins the United Federation of Planets.
- 2163: Alrond declares itself independent of the (new) United Federation of Planets and the seat of the "Andorian Empire-in-Exile".[7]
- 2165: The radical group "Keepers of the Throne" begin killing Arkenite members of the colonial population of Alrond, in retaliation for Arken II's admission into the Federation.[7]
- 2165: Star Fleet intervenes in the racial strife on Alrond; Lecheb sh'Makesh is forced from power and the radical group "Keepers of the Throne" are defeated.[7]
- 2382: The Andorian Empire secedes from the United Federation of Planets.[1]
- 2385: The legislature of the Andorian Empire, the Parliament Andoria, votes to repeal the 2382 secession ordinance and reapply for admission into the United Federation of Planets, which is fast-tracked.[1]

Notes
- At some point between the Andorians achieving warp capability and founding the UFP (2161), the Arkenites became their subjects. While relatively aggressive (in comparison to Humans), the former doesn't require the Andorians to "capture" worlds from other species. The events surrounding the disaster on the Azha-R7a mining colony in 2259, wherein the Arkenites briefly "joined" the Klingon Empire, suggest the Arkenites—as a culture—may readily trade their sovereignty for assistance. There may be a similar story in regards to their relationship with the Andorian Empire, especially since they were freed from subjectivity prior to the UFP's founding.
