• In an early test of a forthcoming torpedo upgrade, USS Allegany (NCC-754, Caracal class) is lost in an explosion, claiming 86 lives and ripping open a spacedock above Arcturas. The event is downplayed and and the truth classified.

• The final ship (of the initial 3) of the Whorfin battle cruiser class are completed and enter service.

• The remaining Trent (and Kovaris sub-class) class light destroyers receive warp nacelle upgrades.

• June: The Ranger class light cruiser enters service with Starfleet. USS Ranger (NCC-781) starts expedited space trails.
