Historical Events
- By: The construction of two-engined Babcocks and refits of old Kovaris destroyers has made the Charger subclass redundant in the role of torpedo-armed contingency escorts.[1]
- The last of the Sherman-derived drones are withdrawn from service and replaced by drone conversions of more modern vessels.[2]
- The final Independence class medium transport is decommissioned.[3]
- The ex-Albert McKenzie (NCC-1551, Rochester class) is seized by Anjiri secessionists, though having been supposedly scrapped by 2280, from the Big Horn lunar depot in the Aldebaran system. The ship engages in combat, in which the Federation is involved at Deep Space 3 and the Klingons at Kreth, where it is captured.[4]
- The Star Fleet Museum purchases the former USS Canopus herself, for restoration.[5]
- Four Okinawa Flight II light frigates (NCC-1257, 1269, 1285, and 1292) receive installation of onboard laboratories.[6]
- The decision to make the installation in 2290 is because it was "after 2289" and it made more sense to do it well before their 2299 deactivation.
- The Epsilon class cutters utilized by Star Fleet are retired.[7]
- The final Enterprise Flight II heavy cruiser is commissioned.[8]
- March: The final two Nordenskiöld sub-class light cruisers are decommissioned.[9]
