History
- About 37,720 BCE: The Great Orion Empire settles the planet, with Kaylar slaves.[4][5]
- 1985: The planet is settled by the Chelarians of Beta Rigel III, who work with the resettled Kaylars to develop the planet as an agricultural world.[4]
- This probably occurred not too much earlier (no more than a few hundred years at most).
- 2221: On a patrol mission out of the planet's Fleet outpost, USS Nestor (Bloodhound corvette) witnesses a rendezvous between an Orion transport convoy and a Klingon destroyer, revealing the trade relations between the governments.[6]
- Since the Chelarians have not yet joined the UFP, the Fleet outpost may have been something arranged as a joint effort, like with Deep Space Nine. Maybe this was a Deep Space outpost.
- 2275: The Chelarians (with both Beta Rigel II and III) join the United Federation of Planets.[2]

Notes
- Protected from Beta Rigel A's ionizing radiation by the Hakel radiation belt—an extremely powerful magnetic field surrounding Rigel A—out to a distance of approximately 80 AU (creating an extended green zone in the Beta Rigel system).
- As a Class L planet, Rigel II has no native animal life; fish were introduced to the oceans millennia ago.[2]
- The northern continent is Sandak. It has two mountain ranges, the Eloria Mountains and the Tharker Mountains, which resembled the Appalachians of Earth. They are low and latitudinal, and channel the heavy rain into fertile river valleys that wound through the thick Torango and Volnali jungles, which have teal-colored leaves. The southern continent is Zalok, with the high Zeolok Plateau centering it; the steep mountain crevasses run almost down to the shoreline.[2]
- Plant life is plentiful on the world, with lush jungles on the ground and more in the oceans. The plants are brightly colored, even phosphorescent.[2]
- The Hakel radiation belt emitted by Beta Rigel A provides a "green zone" environment for all the planets—including those in orbit of Beta Rigel BC—with the exception of Rigel I and the asteroid belt situated in the orbit just beyond it.
