- January 1: The Romulans raid Defense Outpost 4 and the USS Carronade (ND-601, Cavalry class) barely survives the encounter. The senior officers of the destroyer describe enemy vessels painted as giant, winged creatures that performed attack runs with fusion-explosive missiles. Intercepted subspace radio transmissions fron this battle are translated, finally giving the enemy a name - the Romulans. The UESF also obtains its first accurate bearing on Romulan-held space[1][2]
- The USS Enterprise (NX-01, Enterprise class) encountered a Rihannsu Wide Patrol in the process of fortifying a recent conquest at Theta Eridani (though their identity was unknown at the time).[3]
- March: A Xindi probe from the Delphic Expanse decimates a large area between Florida and Venezuela, killing seven million people.[4][3]
- The Messier fleet was called closer to Earth, so that the aged cruisers could be upgraded into useful combatants.[3]
- Phased particle beam weaponry was introduced.[5]
- The first truly efficient combat fit is made to the Iceland class of destroyers during upgrades.[5]
- (confirm) Due in large part to the number of battles the USS Enterprise (Enterprise class) has been involved in, all unarmed exploration vessels (including those of UESPA), are hastily recalled over the next two years.[6]
- The last select Djartanna class destroyers have glass bead emitters installed, in lieu of the shuttlepod berth.[7]
