Historical Events

• USS San Esteban (FF-491) is the only UESF ship lost with all hands in the final Romulan plunge at alpha Omega B, taking with her two Romulan stormwings but unable to prevent the massacre of more than 20,000 people on the planetary settlement.
• Due to the heavy casualties suffered by the Romulans in the Battle of Cheron the previous year, they were amicable to a compromise that included few territorial gains or losses, and dictated no reparations whatsoever by either side. The war was ended by acknowledging the sovereignty of the Romulans within a carefully defined column of space, and that of the humans outside that volume, with an impermeable and eternal barrier erected between.
• The Romulan War is over.
• May 24th: USS Cavalier (ND-626, Cavalry class) is shot to pieces well after the official declaration of ceasefire and limps to a crash lands onto an unexplored, barely M-class world.
• The Iceland class destroyers are pressed into patrolling the newly-established Neutral Zone.
• The United Federation of Planets was founded.
• The UFP Starfleet was founded, as well as the Committee for Starfleet.
• Starfleet Academy was established in San Francisco.
• The role of desperation in Earth’s starflight programs was greatly reduced, and specieism was receding as well.
• The first of the remaining first flight Cavalries is sold to member navies of the UFP.
