Late Year: Captain Garth of the USS Xenophon, investigating the attack upon Archanis IV, finds a disabled Klingon cruiser inside Federation space. This leads him to discover the presence of a Klingon garrison on the nearby Federation protectorate world of Axanar. Klingon Admiral Kkorhetza declines the opportunity to surrender the garrison on Axanar.^[1]

The year is predicated on the assumption that the investigation (and discovery of Klingon presence) occurred no later than the year after the attack on Archanis IV.

As more modern cruisers enter service, the five re-activated Caracal class command cruisers are again retired and sold to the Ktarian defense fleet (following re-engining).^[2]
