Historical Events
- The period of the great offensive towards the heartspace of Earth and its allies by Romulan forces evolves into a war of attrition as Earth and her allies begin offensive maneuvers.[1]
- One UESF battle group, consisting of the elderly Earthships Halsey, Gorshkov and Yamamoto (all Messier class) and their escort destroyers and frigates, almost accidentally managed to locate a Romulan fleet stocking point at a distant unnamed star system in the Triangulum Australe region (in the Sierra sector). Wreaking havoc on dozens of dormant Romulan ships, the cruisers managed to halt the Romulan offensive before it reached the fringes of Earth colonization zones or the worlds of its neighbors and possible future allies. However, the self-destruction of the Romulan base crippled many of the vessels. Later, the battle group was attacked several times, and only USS Gorshkov managed to limp home, along with one frigate. The war was far from being over. A bitter point had been learned: the Romulans would acknowledge no other form of combat than a fight to death, be it as individuals or as a species.[1][2][3]
- Iceland class destroyers are mainly used as perimeter guards for offensive battle fleets.[4]
- It is assumed that this occurred in this year, as the class was pulled back to planetary defense the year prior.
- The series of refits for the Cavalry class light destroyer, where transporter systems are first installed, ends.[5]
- Conjecture, but needs enough time for prototype to be completed by 2162.
