Historical Events

  • The period of the great offensive towards the heartspace of Earth and its allies by Romulan forces evolves into a war of attrition, as Earth and her allies begin offensive maneuvers.[1]
  • One UESF battle group—consisting of the elderly Earthships Halsey, Gorshkov, and Yamamoto (all Messier cruisers) and their escort destroyers and frigates—accidentally manages to locate a Romulan fleet stocking point at a distant unnamed star system in the Triangulum Australe region (in the Sierra sector). By wreaking havoc on dozens of dormant Romulan ships, the group halts the Romulan offensive before it reaches the fringes of Earth colonization zones or the worlds of its neighbors (and future allies). However, the self-destruction of the Romulan base cripples many of the Human vessels. The battle group is subsequently attacked several times and only UESS Gorshkov and one frigate are capable of limping home. The war is far from over. A bitter lesson has been learned: the Romulans will acknowledge no other form of combat than a fight to the death, be it as individuals or as a species.[1][2][3]
  • Ganges class destroyers are mainly used as perimeter guards for offensive battle fleets.[4]
It is assumed that this occurred in this year, as the class was pulled back to planetary defense the year prior.
  • The series of refits for the Cavalry class light destroyer, where transporter systems are first installed, ends.[5]
  • The Poseidon heavy cruiser class enters service with the UESF.[6]
  • The UESF begins production of three Victory class battlecruisers, two at Mars and one at Kaleb.[7]
Conjecture, but needs enough time for prototype to be completed by 2162.
  • The Strider class courier/scout enters service with the UESF.[8]
  • The Andorians re-enter the Romulan War, providing Thofsin class cruisers to operate alongside Earth and Tellarite ships.[9]
  • The lack of clear Romulan targets to strike is a cause of "desperation" for the UESF.[10]
  • The final unmodified Durance class transport receives a weapons upgrade for wartime defensive purposes.[11]
The year of completion is supposition.
  • Construction resumes on four mothballed Mars hulls.[5]
  • April 17: Romulan light units blow up the orbital Spaceport Vega and retreat before the local Clark space tanks have a chance to concentrate their fire. The UESS Sapporo (Athens courier) is destroyed in the attack.[14][15]
The date of the loss of Sapporo is presumed to occur in the same attack that saw the loss of the shipyard.
  • May 21: Two Romulan cruisers are immobilized and prompted to self-destruct, a third destroyed outright, and the invasion of Vega is averted, with the loss of four Clark class space tanks.[14]
  • August: The design plans of a lower-tier Daedalus-type scout are completed.[10]
Between now and the end of March 2160, 2 spaceframes (and sixteen lives) are lost and 10 ships are built.
  • September: The decision is made to resume space tank production.[16]
  • November: The first three Bradley class space tanks are mostly assembled.[16]
  • November: The Romulans retake Deneva, though most colonists evacuate from the system. The ones remaining in the asteroid belt wage a guerilla campaign by redirecting small asteroids to Romulan positions on the ground.[17]
  • November 21: Starfleet vessels on a convoy mission in the Gamma Hydrae Sector engage an attacking Romulan warship, when two are disabled by a (novel) photonic shockwave.[18]
