Historical Events

  • The role of desperation in Earth’s starflight programs is greatly reduced, and specie-ism is receding as well. The survey cruiser project is back on full speed, and expert opinions are collected.[2]
  • The first of the remaining Cavalries is sold to member navies of the UFP.[3]
  • Vulcan Ambassador Solkar is replaced by Ambassador T’Jan, marking a transition to an era of openness and equality in Earth-Vulcan relations.[4]
  • Fifty-one vessels of the Roanoke class transports remain at the time of the founding of the UFP Star Fleet.[5]
  • The light cruiser Piranha and the transport vessel Roy Malcolm are dispatched to the Gamma Hydra system to rescue the stranded UESS Kirov and UESS Kerry (both Achilles class cruisers), but are unable to locate the vessels nor their crews.[6]
The two rescue vessels are dispatched one year after the two Achilles are left behind by Admiral Larson.
  • The fourth Poseidon class heavy cruiser clears its box dock, to enter service with the UFP Star Fleet.[7]
  • The Tanathooef subclass escorts transferred to Star Fleet service receive a weapons and transporter refit.[8]
The mines had been discovered and exploited by Orions and Tellarites the year before.
  • The rebuilding of Deneva Station is completed and the mining of the belt has been revived.[12]
  • 18 January: UESS Enterprise (NX-01, class lead) is decommissioned (never having served in the UFP Star Fleet), restored to her original design internally and externally, and preserved as a museum specimen. The other four surviving members of the class soon follow Enterprise into retirement.[16][17]
  • January: The Imperial Senate of the Romulan Star Empire broadcasts its ratification of the Treaty of Peace on all subspace frequencies. The message is picked up by allied starships along the border, and the treaty terms go into immediate effect. After 29 years of piratical attacks, open warfare, and staggering losses on both sides, the Romulan War is finally over.[18]
  • The war-weary UESS Emden (Helena class cruiser) is decommissioned and scrapped immediately following the war.[19]
  • May 24th: UESS Cavalier (ND-628, Mars light torpedo destroyer) is shot to pieces well after the official declaration of ceasefire and limps to a crash landing onto an unexplored, barely M-class world.[3]
  • The UFP Star Fleet is founded, as well as is the Committee for Star Fleet. All vessels transferred to the organization are re-designated as USS (for United Star Ship).[20][21][2]
  • Late: The Vulcan High Command begins pulling back its deep space patrol fleet.[24]
The late year presumption is based on it (most likely) occurring after Vulcan signs the Articles of the Federation in August.
  • October: Vulcan indicates that it will not provide any of its warp 7-capable capital vessels to either the Defense nor Exploration Commands as a means to promote a de-escalation policy. Earth Fleet, in response, agrees to transfer the Columbia class Endeavor to UESPA for exploration purposes.[17]
The month for both events is conjecture, but is presumed to occur after the founding of the UFP Star Fleet.
  • Following signing of the articles: The Ganges class destroyers are pressed into patrolling the newly-established Neutral Zone, while a few others patrol intra-Federation spacelanes or provide system defense.[25]
  • Following signing of the articles: Star Fleet adopts the Shran Doctrine, the prioritization of the independence of individual ship commanders and decentralized patrolling over that of rigid, centralized command and control.[26]
  • December 13: Star Fleet Academy is established in San Francisco.[21][27]
