- The United Federation of Planets extends membership to Rigel III (the Chelarians).[3]
- Background material is per the Star Trek Roleplaying Game, Book 7: Worlds. The year of admission is game-canon. Rigel III is the first of three planets in the system to join the Federation.
- USS Siva (NCC-520, Siva II sub-class) receives an experimental second nacelle on her dorsal, initiating the Siva III sub-class.[4]
