Historical Events

  • June: The last of six Mercury class scouts (in one year) is lost, presumably to Romulan action.[1]
  • June: USS Candace (S-5665) is damaged in an encounter with Romulan forces.[1]
The month is conjecture.
  • September: USS Candace (S-5665) re-launches, is hijacked by stranded Romulans, recovered by the USS Jackson (Cavalry class) and returned to drydock for repairs.[1]
The hijacking occurred 3 months after its initial encounter in June.
  • The original Durance class transports started to receive wartime weapons upgrades.[2]
  • The Romulans penetrate the interplanetary security of the Sector 5B Mining Complex, destroying this important allied resource.[3]
The year of the attack is moved forward to accommodate the stated year of official hostilities.
  • A Mercury hull under construction is modified to become the first Doppler class scout.[4]
  • The Romulans conduct a starship suicide attack on the planet Vulcan.[5]
  • The loss of six more Daedalus corvettes by the end of this year leads the class to be relegated to secondary roles shortly thereafter.[6]
  • The Iceland class destroyers receive the 1-layer graviton/subspace globular forcefield during upgrade.[7]
  • The Minuteman design is selected for the UESF's new deep-space destroyer class.[8]
  • UESF Command composes the ‘seventy per cent deal’, where 70% of the cost of an Enterprise class explorer will be budgeted to other ship classes for each one built.[9]
