Historical Events

• Early year: The first two new-built Columbia class explorers enter service with Star Fleet.

• USS Horizon (NCC-176, Daedalus survey cruiser), fresh from her post-war refit, embarks on the beginning of what will be a three-year deployment (ending in her destruction after departing Iotia).

The year of departure is conjecture. The source article indicates she had the first three-year sortie for the newly-refitted Daedaluses and her destruction in 2168 is established in the beta canon. She may have departed earlier, before this sortie, or later, being destroyed in 2168 before completing the assigned three-year mission.

• The Committee for Star Fleet orders twelve vessels of the Almeida class heavy (later multi-mission) cruiser to be built as the backbone type of the Federation Star Fleet’s first ship generation, with twelve more as an option.

• The star Phi Puma goes nova. It is soon realized the 10 million inhabitants of Bayard’s Planet are in danger and will need complete evacuation by 2221.

The year of the nova is speculation, as is the date of the effects upon Bayard’s Planet.

• The Senator (or W Class) freighter class enters service with the commercial fleets.

The future Alexandria class derives from the Senator.

• The Powers class scoutcraft enters service with the UFP Star Fleet, conducting basic surveys of inner UFP systems and the sectors of the Delphic Expanse.

• The Class D2 / SP-50 light atmospheric/spatial shuttle enters service with the UFP Star Fleet.

• The last of the Strachan subclass light torpedo destroyers is sold to member navies of the UFP.

• The United Federation of Planets extends membership to Arken II.

• The educational subcommittee of the Military Staff Committee completes its Star Fleet Academy development plan.

• The Vulcans establish a colony on Sigma Draconis V.
