The Alpha Centauri Concordium of Planets, founded in 2020[1], is the supreme governmental body for the planets of the Alpha Centauri system. The alliance was one of the five founding member states of the United Federation of Planets, having signed the Articles of the Federation on 12 August 2161, and is comprised of the three inhabited planets in the triple-star system: Alpha Centauri III , Alpha Centauri Prime, and Proxima Centauri.
History
- 1876: Dr. Kulei Asephas is convinced to become the first global president of Alpha Centauri Prime of what will (eventually) become the Concordium of Planets.[2][3]
- 2020: The Concordium of Planets is formalized, to provide structure over the continuing development of the Alpha Centauri system.[1]
- 2155: Alpha Centauri, Andor, Earth, Tellar, Vulcan, and minor worlds (including Axanar and Kaferia) approve a first draft agreement for an alliance to be formed for trade, cultural exchange, and mutual protection.[4]
- 2161: The governments of Alpha Centauri, Andor, Earth, Tellar, and Vulcan sign the Articles of the Federation; Alpha Centauri joins the United Federation of Planets.
Inhabited Planets
- Alpha Centauri Prime
- Alpha Centauri III
- Amber (colony)
- Egaran II (colony)
- Proxima Centauri
- Springboard (2153 colony)
Ship Roster
Unlike the other four founding members of the United Federation of Planets, the Concordium never developed any militarized interstellar vessels. Instead, through tight relationships with United Earth leading to an extensive defensive agreement, Alpha Centauri was able to develop a large industrial base for construction of civilian interstellar ships, including freighters & passenger liners. As the Romulan War picked up, the system became a center of repair and maintenance of allied craft, as a way of keeping homeworld shipyards available for new construction. Some of that capacity was heavily damaged in July 2155, when the Romulans attacked the system.
