Department of Medical Health (UESN)
The Department of Medical Health establishes the health and safety standards that keepUnited Earth Stellar Navy personnel fit for duty across the force. Led by the Director, Medical Health, it screens personnel for long-duration assignments, monitors radiation exposure, and sets standards for acceleration, fatigue, sleep, and shipboard living conditions. Its staff provides behavioral-health support, inspects atmosphere, food, water, and sanitation, and coordinates casualty evacuation along routes linking Earth, Luna, Mars, and Ganymede. By applying common medical standards to crews drawn from different national services, the department protects personnel while giving the newly unified force a consistent basis for judging readiness.

Offices
- Space Medicine and Fitness Section
- Establishes medical standards for service aboard United Earth Stellar Navy vessels and at remote installations. It screens personnel for long-duration assignments, advises commanders on fitness for duty, and oversees the medical centers established at major bases and transit hubs. These centers provide routine and emergency care, maintain clinical records, and support crews before departure and after return.
- Radiation Health Section
- Monitors radiation exposure across the force and sets limits for individual missions and careers. It maintains cumulative dose records, evaluates the medical effects of exposure, and advises commanders on shielding, crew rotation, and return-to-duty decisions after radiation incidents.
- Crew Physiology and Fatigue Section
- Develops standards for the physical demands of space service, including low-gravity adaptation, acceleration tolerance, sleep cycles, and sustained workload. It assesses how these conditions affect crew performance and advises commanders on schedules and recovery periods that preserve readiness without placing personnel at unnecessary risk.
- Behavioral Health Section
- Supports the psychological welfare of personnel serving in isolated and confined environments. It provides counseling, helps resolve interpersonal conflicts, and advises commanders when stress or declining morale threatens a crew’s effectiveness. It also establishes procedures for sensitive fitness-for-duty evaluations while protecting access to care.
- Environmental Health and Habitat Safety Section
- Inspects the conditions in which personnel live and work. It sets standards for shipboard atmosphere, food, water, sanitation, and habitable spaces, and investigates environmental hazards or suspected contamination. Its inspections apply common health requirements across vessels and installations operated by the unified force.
- Casualty Evacuation Section
- Plans the movement of sick and injured personnel from ships and remote installations to facilities capable of providing the care they need. It coordinates medical transport, receiving centers, and continuity of treatment along routes linking Earth, Luna, Mars, and Ganymede, accounting for distance, transit time, and the patient’s condition.
