Andorian Guard

The Andorian Imperial Guard (AIG) was the primary military and space force of the Andorian Empire in the years prior to the founding of the United Federation of Planets in 2161 and briefly resumed this role following Andoria's secession from the Federation between 2382 and 2385. Upon the formation of the UFP, the AIG split into two components: the AIG retained the original name and some combat assets for the direct defense of Andoria and its affiliated colonies; the Andorian Guard (AG) received the bulk share of the combat assets for the core vessels of the new Defense Command, led by Admiral Thy'lek Shran. The department returned to its state duties when Star Fleet reorganized in 2208.

• The seal used for the AIG originates from Brad Wilder's Star Trek Design Project, where it was identified as "Andorian 2150s" and not as "Andorian Guard".
