European Union
Formalized in 1993 (but operating as an economic powerhouse for decades before that, the European Union (EU) was Europe's primary governmental representational organization throughout the pre-warp era. Encompassing on average 28 nations throughout its history, it was an enthusiastic partner with the United States of America (USA) when the Western Alliance (WA) was formed in 2002 to take advantage of the the technological surge of the post-Augment era. When the Alliance formed a large agency of the New United Nations (NUN) in 2018, the EU's identity transferred with it (though the USA remained a separate identity). The NUN and the EU/WA remained closely knit throughout the first half of the 21st century, up until the devastation of WWIII in 2153. The EU never regained an independent face, as the NUN and the later United Earth Defense Pact worked tirelessly to help the continent recover.
